Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene

We believe that improved water, sanitation, and hygiene is foundational for good individual and community-wide health.

That’s why we’re investing heavily into solutions that increase the access & quality of WASH services that are feasible, socially acceptable, and locally replicable in order to improve health now and into the future.

Water

Water is a fundamental human need, essential for life. While contaminated water may or may not look dirty, it can be deadly.

We are helping families and schools gain access to clean water by providing point-of-use filters and water tanks for safe storage.

Sanitation

Fecal contamination is a major route by which pathogens spread from human to human.

Properly managed thermophilic compost toilets eliminate exposure to human feces while breaking down and destroying disease-causing pathogens. In addition, this natural process yields rich, fertile, valuable soil.

Hygiene

Hygiene has been barely prioritized on the international development agenda.

However, hygienic behavior such as hand washing with soap could save one million lives each year.
